Scandinavian Designer : Eyglo By Eygló Margrét Lárusdóttir

“I’m trying to push myself a litlle bit more by using unusual fabrics with really beautiful ones”

Eygló Margrét Lárusdóttir founder of Eyglo grew up outside Reykjavik, she started making clothes of the age of seventeen years old for herself. She graduated from Iceland Academy Of The Arts in 2005 and started her brand straight after. I read a piece that caught me by the first sentence, that I can’t even formulate in a different way without it sounding weird. So I will just write it all down.

Where Does Your Inspiration come from?

I usually know the next theme months before i start working on a line. Once i had to take my son to the hospital and my eye was caught by an X-ray  of a hand on the wall. That was beginning of my AW11 collection. Then my son came home from the library with a dinosaur book, and SS12 came along. Now I’m working around crop circles after watching the TV series Ancient Aliens. For the next winter collection I’m thinking about looking   to Icelandic nature for inspiration….

Her collections are not as edgy and strong as Vilsbøl De Arce, but I can definitely see her beautiful prints getting global. She is so great at making prints, which probably came when she was educating in Iceland Academy of the Arts.
